Using this thread to jot down some ideas.

    OMNICRON SOLDIER

Figure:  Heroclix Yu-Gi-Oh CYBER SOLDIER OF DARKWORLD #003

    General: JANDAR
    Planet:  Alpha Prime

    Species: Soulborg
    Uncommon Hero
    Class: Soldier
    Personality: Precise
    Medium 5

    Stats
    Life: 3
    Move: 5
    Range: 4
    Attack: 3
    Defense: 4
    Points: 80

    DIVERT POWER
Before taking a turn with this Omnicron Soldier, you may reduce the Move value on this card by up to 4 this turn.  For each point of reduction, you may add 1 to this card's Range this turn.

    TARGETING BEACON
When attacking a non-adjacent figure, all Soulborg figures you control who follow Jandar add 1 die to their attack if at least one Omnicron Soldier you control is adjacent to the defending figure.

    Another Special Power idea:

    CHARGE CAPACITORS
Instead of moving, you may place a gold Charge marker on this Army Card. Before attacking, this Omnicron Soldier may remove one Charge marker to: Add 4 to the Range value of this card for the duration of your turn, or. after attacking, you may attack one additional time with a normal attack.

    Borrowing from Rygarn ...

    FAILOVER SYSTEMS
Once per round, before revealing a numbered Order Marker on a Soulborg Army Card in your army, you may move that numbered Order Marker to this card.

    I like the powers.

Charge Capacitors sounds like more fun than Divert Powers, but I'm suggesting a change to the text:

    CHARGE CAPACITORS
Instead of moving, you may place 1 gold Charge marker on this Army Card. Before attacking, this Omnicron Soldier may remove one Charge marker to add 4 to its Range value of this turn or, after attacking, this Omnicron Soldier may attack one additional time.

I'm not sure what FAILOVER means . . . how about FAILSAFE SYSTEMS?

Jandar has so many 80 point figures. What if we reduced his defense by 1 and move by 1 and started him at 60 or 70 points - just thinking here about potential army builds.

The term "Failover" is used in a server cluster - where if something happens to Server # 1, then Server # 2 automatically takes over the workload/operations.  The idea here is that in the event that one Omnicron Soldier is destroyed (or even all of your Repulsors or Snipers) that you could move the OM to another Soulborg card.  Sort of like Rygarn but specific to Soulborgs.

I am happy to adjust the Stats/Costs .. the figure itself isn't very expensive so it could be a Common Hero, too.  However "Heroes" cannot use Omegacron's attack bonding (move bonding yes, attacking no).

    --
    How about:

    OMNICRON SOLDIER
    Species: Soulborg
    Uncommon Hero
    Class: Soldier

    Stats
    Life: 2
    Move: 5
    Range: 4
    Attack: 3
    Defense: 4
    Points: 60

    CHARGE CAPACITORS
Instead of moving, you may place 1 gold Charge marker on this Army Card. Once per turn, before attacking, this Omnicron Soldier may remove one Charge marker to add 4 to its Range value of this turn or, after attacking, this Omnicron Soldier may attack one additional time.

    FAILOVER SYSTEMS
Once per round, before revealing a numbered Order Marker on a Soulborg Army Card in your army, you may move that numbered Order Marker to this card.

changes:  dropped Targeting Beacon, dropped Life from 3 to 2, dropped points from 80 to 60.  The Omnicron Solider does benefit from Repulsor's targeting beacon, so he could "Charge Up" and get a double-attack with a boosted +1 if any Repulsors (or Gammacron) are out there.

I tried a play-test with these guys at Uncommon Heroes and they really just don't work unfortunately. The Life 2 is really more like making them a Squad figure, so I am thinking of making them a 2-figure. As Squad figures they could have more synergy with Omegacron. I am thinking of keeping the option for a 'double-attack' so that as a 2-person squad they could potentially have 4 attacks. That might make them more competitive.

I might have to drop the Charge Markers though : )

Thanks for making them a squad! Unique, I hope.

You can even give them a little more staying power and use Redundant Markers like Incendiborgs.

The figure is only $1.00 each, so I was thinking of a Common Squad. For about $8.00 you could have four, 2-figure squads. Of course I need stats, powers, etc.

Would you prefer Unique Squad? - more like Zettian Guards?

Jandar could use a unique squad, but common could be interesting as well. If it was a unique squad it would be easier to modify one of the sculpts to create a slightly different pose, than it would be for 4 if it were common. There might be some figurines out there though that aren't as cheap that could eventually be used as a unique squad. Heck, I don't know.

Oooh, a Unique Jandar Soulborg squad ... intriguing. This Cyber Soldier is fairly bendy when immersed in hot water but I haven't tried any new poses yet. It is inexpensive enough that if I order a few more - I can experiment. I'll keep you posted on progress.

We can use these figures as a Jandar Unique Squad.  I think we each have 1 of these figures as I was thinking of Unique Hero.

Back to the Omnicron Soldiers .. I was trying to think up different powers instead of just double-attack and if we go Common Squad I thought maybe the "Soldiers" bring up a protective barrier to keep melee from reaching the "Snipers."

This is borrowed from the Air Elemental with a mix of Shurrak's Knockback (but inspired by Jean Grey/Graviton).

    MAGNETIC FIELD 9
Any time a small or medium figure moves onto a space within 4 clear sight spaces of an Omnicron Soldier you control, you may roll the 20-sided die. Add 1 to your roll for each Omnicron Soldier that is also within 4 clear sight spaces of that figure. If you roll a 9 - 16, that figure must end their move there. If you roll a 17 - 20, that figure ends its movement immediately and you may move that figure 1 space. That space must be on the same level or lower than its current location. A non-flying figure moved lower by Magnetic Field can receive any falling damage. Figures can never more through any figure affected by Magnetic Field.

Not a huge fan of it thematically. Figures like the Aubrien Archers would be affected yet they have no metal on their sculpt.

Going in a different direction here:

    OMNICRON SOLDIERS

    Species: Soulborg
    Common Squad (2 figures)
    Class: Soldier
    Personality: Disciplined
    Medium 5

    Stats
    Life: 1
    Move: 5
    Range: 4
    Attack: 3
    Defense: 3

    Points: 60

    CHARGE CAPACITORS
Instead of moving, an Omnicron Soldier may add 4 to its Range value of this turn or, after attacking, may attack one additional time.

    HARDENED ARMOR
When an Omnicron Soldier is chosen for a special power on any Army Card and the 20-sided die is rolled, you may subtract 3 from the die roll.

    MELEE DEFENSE 1
When rolling defense dice against a normal attack from an adjacent figure, an Omnicron Soldier adds 1 die.

The Omnicron Soldiers could benefit from the Repulsors' Targeting Beacon .. which could be powerful for close range (double-attack at Range 4) but it is a 2 person squad. The use of Omegacron with the Soldiers could require some re-wording on Charge Capacitors.

    Army Builds:

    Omnicron Repulsors x 3 ... 120
    Omnicron Soldiers x3 .. 300
    Omegacron ... 480

    From Omegacron:

    Omnicron Mobilization
Instead of moving with Omegacron, you may move up to 3 other Soulborg figures you control who follow Jandar up to 5 spaces each.

So, same power. Move some repulsors, or some Snipers, or Gamacron, or . . . Omegacron? Hmm. Wait - your Omnicron Mobilization has movement of only common Soulborgs, sorry I am thinking while I'm typing. The power would need to be renamed then: Omnicron Squad Mobilzation? Omnicron Common Mobilization? I am not sure.

I still like this power over the double attack:

    CHARGE CAPACITORS
Instead of moving, an Omnicron Soldier may add 4 to its Range value this turn or, after attacking, may attack one additional time.

I originally have Mobilization as Tactical Squad Movement but thought it would be easier to adopt the name.

Good observation. I am a little leery of having the Omnicron Soldier move 3 common soulborgs, and then all of the 8th pathfinders. You could get a big chunk of your entire army to move on one turn.

Also, suppose you use Omegacron's Omnicron Mobilization to move three Soulborgs who follow Jandar, and you pick three Omnicron Soldiers . . . instead of moving those three Soldiers, do they each get to move three common Jandar Soulborgs for a total of nine?

For uniques, we have Zetacron, Omegacron, and Gammacron. If this figure is uncommon/unique, should it have a more specific name? Betacron, Thetacron, Deltacron, etc.?

I'm not trying to rain on any ideas, but I think we should consider these questions before proceeding. I have a card just about done.

No problem keeping me in check .. I get a little whacky sometimes ; P

For Mobilization - I wanted this Omnicron Squad Leader to only move common figures - so they couldn't move Uniques or Uncommons. I do need to change the name if it is just commons.

And yeah, I was worried about the 8th Infantry as well .. so probably change the class from Soldier to something else.
