Post  Lord Kai Tue May 28, 2013 2:16 am

Thanks for this post .. helps give some organization and focus to what we're working on.

If we are going to include the Templars, then they have at least 2 Unique Heroes - one is Cleric (who could also be used with the Fusiliers) and the other is a Valiant Warrior that they bond with. They could both go in the Hero Pack.

We could put Mistress Isadora in the Hero Pack, and maybe the one Alpha-Prime Enforcer in the Harpies pack (to reflect that you would buy at least 2 wave packs for multiple Harpies and multiple Enforcers - whether they were Common or Uncommon Heroes).

But that's a LOT of submission by Kai .. and I would rather spread the creative energy around Smile

    Wave 1
    Pack 1
    Heros (need a name)
    Kyssandra
    Uvall
    - Mistress Isadora
    - Templar Cleric
    - Templar Valiant Warrior

    Pack 2
    Commons (Sylvan and the Sacred)
    Sylvan Animae
    Sacred Fusiliers

    Pack 3
    Common squads (Harpies and ?)
Bloodhunter Harpies (1 squad of two harpies)
    - Alpha-Prime Enforcer (1)

    Pack 4
common squads (The righteous and the Beasts)
    Templars
    Minotaurs

Wave 1: The Fallen and the Faithful, Final Empty Re: Wave 1: The Fallen and the Faithful, Final

Post  Lord Kai Tue May 28, 2013 2:17 pm

    Maybe our target should be:

    Standard Wave =

    6 Squads = 2 squads each
    3 Heroes = 1 hero each

    Large Wave =

    4-5 figures = 1 hero each

    ==

    Following this formula, we have:

    Damon:
    - open Hero (could use Kai's Cleric to add to Fusiliers)
    Sacred Fusiliers
    - open Squad

    Kai:
    Kyssandra
    Uvall
    Blood Harpies
    Sylvan Animae

    Derek:
    - open Hero
    - open Squad 1 (Minotaurs?)
    - open Squad 2

    Large Expansion:
    Derek - Chela
    Derek - Dwarf Giant
    Damon - Torver
    Kai - open

If we go this route, then I'm done for this Wave - and the Templars, Wolfen, and Isadora can be for the next Wave.

Wave 1: The Fallen and the Faithful, Final Empty Current Wave and Large Expansion

    Post  Derek S Tue May 28, 2013 11:13 pm

Wave 3 seems a little odd having a common squad and a common figure. I think either the Harpies should be common or we hold of on the Alpha Prime enforcer and add a common squad.

I also think we should be a little more even with submissions- only if it makes sense though. I don't think the Templars need to have their 2+ heroes in the same wave (the Minotaurs will have at least 2 as well). If we have moved along with a character, and it fits thematically than I say add it. If not we can hold off on it.

Our next wave might be 2 or 3 hero packs, but let's deal with that when we are done with the first. Right now, I would like to see a couple more submissions from Damon, maybe Jason as well, and use at least 1 hero from each of us plus appropriate squads to fill out the wave, and if we need to dump a squad because a common hero is submitted so be it.

We could then decide what we want for the first wave and prioritize from there.

For Pack 3, I was thinking it would be six figures (2 Harpies, 1 Enforcer and a 3-member squad to-be-determined). But totally open, and the Enforcer needs some work.

I have a TON of ideas, so I'll probably post a lot more than you two (benefit of my being single and no heirs to the Lord Kai throne). But even if I have a lot more submissions, it will just be a matter of which ideas we want to go forward with and/or playtest.

Wave 1: The Fallen and the Faithful, Final Empty Re: NWHS Wave

Post  Nomad Thu May 30, 2013 8:39 pm

OK, I have not given the first wave idea any thought yet. So I'm going to defer on making comments on specifics.

A couple of things I have thought about:

    1) We do not have to follow formulas! If we want to do less squads and more heroes I would be very happy. Why not consider two squad packs with one hero each and two strictly hero packs? HS did it with wave 7 I think. By this, I mean let's put together our best efforts and not force more squads/heroes/commons/whatever to make it fit a formula.

    2) I am not in favor of including the Dwarf Giant. It was a great design, but it is so similar to Mok that I don't think it would be beneficial for others or for our time to play test him, etc. No slight intended.

    3) I'm OK with doing the Sylvan because it is a very different build and it has been finalized - we don't need to play test.

    4) I'm going to drag my feet on pushing forward on the Wolfen bunch that have already been targeted for release by C3V. Not because I don't think there is a great potential with Kai's designs, but I think our efforts should focus on different figures. This is just me speaking and I have not ruled it out - I just want to spend time on others first. No slight intended.

    5) I would be supremely happy to not have as many figures as lead designer as the two of you. It is not my strong suit. I think I would best serve as a commenter, suggester, play-tester, and card creator. So, have at it boys.

    Thanks!

I agree on not following the formulas to a tee. We are real close with what has been put out there so far I thought why not follow it here. I could imagine a wave of nothing but heroes down the road, or something of a mixed bag.

    2) I am not in favor of including the Dwarf Giant. It was a great design, but it is so similar to Mok that I don't think it would be beneficial for others or for our time to play test him, etc. No slight intended.

No problem here- I was kind of figuring we would have finalized our wording and theory scaped his points to finish him up (with such a disclaimer made publically).

    4) I'm going to drag my feet on pushing forward on the Wolfen bunch that have already been targeted for release by C3V. I kind of agree here, although this is kind of against what we originally decided. I would be happy, Kai, if you wanted to use the design or parts of on a Minotaur hero- I haven't even started there.

    5) I would be supremely happy to not have as many figures as lead designer as the two of you. It is not my strong suit. I think I would best serve as a commenter, suggester, play-tester, and card creator. So, have at it boys.

I don't think things could or ever would be even steven. What I was trying to say is that we don't need to rush to fill out the wave. We might have x amount done for the next before we get the right feel for the first (we might even go 3 large characters, 1 hero pack, 2 common packs for the first if it seems more fitting)

I have a TON of ideas, so I'll probably post a lot more than you two (benefit of my being single and no heirs to the Lord Kai throne). But even if I have a lot more submissions, it will just be a matter of which ideas we want to go forward with and/or playtest.

Keep them coming- Loving what you have presented so far. Your last line of "it will just be a matter of which ideas we want to go forward with and/or playtest" is perfect. When we get a few more submissions we can vote on if we want to prioritize for a wave, or let nature take it's course and just see which ones finish up first, and adapt the wave to those.

    OP updated

    Pack 2
    Commons (Sylvan and the Sacred)
    Sylvan Animae
    Sacred Fusiliers

    is completed- Yeah

Do we want to release these guys instead of waiting for the entire wave to be completed? I'd be in favor of this as I don't think it would be so overwhelming for those that have an interest in perusing the customs to check out 2 cards instead of a whole wave.

    Just thinking here:

I'm not convinced we want to wait until we have an entire wave completed before we release something. Trying to fit figures into waves and packs is good and all, but it just adds another layer to what we are doing.

We have 6+ figures done or just about done (although bios will need to be completed).

Why not release what we have in the next week or so and then post additional ones as we finish them?

Yeah, I might have been a little over enthusiastic with the original idea. We could do it the way you are proposing and put it in the wave(s) as released. We could slot them for the wave here, but as they are completed put them in the uncompleted wave on Heroscapers. I am all for that, and down the road we can drop the wave/pack thing entirely if wanted.

    Post  Derek S Tue Jul 23, 2013 11:51 pm

Kai, Damon is bringing Caitlin down this weekend (to house sit for our mom). We will be playing some heroscape and doing some destruction on my basement. I would love it if you could make it and get some playtesting/playing in. We could even do some planning for your Altered Scape event (which I am going to try and push at Josh for our NHSD- such a great idea). Hopefully it will work out for you (even today Sydney and Nolan were mentioning you and when they would see you again. Pretty amazing from Nolan). Let me know.

Thanks for having us Derek! I had a blast as well.

If we are OK with not releasing them in a wave/pack, then I think we can get these four figures and our thread started by Friday: 1) Sylvan Animae, 2) Sacred Fusiliers, 3) Kyssandra, 4) Chela.

Next week, we can do 5) Harpies and 6) Uvall.

And then 7) Templars of Ascalon, Cool Baron Sebastian, and 9) Bishop Thaddeus.

And then . . . we should be ready to roll with another 3 cards or so.

To release the first four - we need bios done.

Great outlet for me too! Thank you Kai and Derek.

I'm uncomfortable giving any deadlines until we decide what we want to do and we agree on a deadline - giving deadlines is not my place. Let's agree on when and how we want to do this. We have some great stuff to share.

I'm OK either way. We can release earlier if it as we complete them or later if we want to get a full wave done. I like the idea of a wave . . . and we are getting closer to completing one.

Input please on wait for a full wave or release as we complete would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm trying to dive into the Dating Scene again (*gasp*) so a deadline would work best. I have a bunch to write up, so I can do a few over the next couple of weeks if needed. I'm guessing a launch before the kids go back to school. When is that?
