Post  Lord Kai Sat Dec 28, 2013 12:40 am

Wanted to share the Christmas Customs that I developed for my Northwest Customs teammates.  The figures are from Reaper Bones and were painted by Diana from dispang on eBay.  Army cards crafted by the incredible IshMEL.

    # 1.  DEVLIN SKYHAWK

New addition to the Lawmen faction.  Devlin is a Lawman who carries a mystical powered Pocket Watch that allows him to see glimpses into the future.  In Devlin’s time he tracks down rogue clock-work automatons and other tesla-technologists.  He has recalibrated his mechana disruptor to bring down the soulborgs of Valhalla.

    Spoiler:

Figure is the Steampunk Adventurer from Reaper Bones.

    # 2.  XAVIER LAWSON
This figure was initially going to be a Paladin but I decided to go with a Human Champion (which is sort of what Paladins are) to give the Knights of Weston and the MacDirks a new bonding option.  Maybe they didn’t need the help but this figure can also be a solid stand-alone hero.
Xavier wields two powerful magical items – the Sword of Flames and the Shield of Light.  With his Sword, Xavier can launch bolts of fire short distances and also engulf his opponents in searing flames.  His shield emits a blinding light that repels evil.

    Spoiler:

Figure is Almaran the Gold from Reaper Bones.

    # 3.  DELANDRIA
Next up is Delandria.  This figure was the first one that I saw on eBay from Diana.  The long, heavy black cloak and assassin class inspired ideas from D&D for a rogue with a displacer cloak.  As I was developing her powers, I came across the Bladesinger class for a mixed rogue-sorcerer who could channel magic through her blades.
The displacer cloak’s enchantment creates an illusion of Delandria’s actual position, causing opponent’s to miss or suddenly finding her out of reach or range.  Once per round Delandria can cast her Haste spell to double her movement or make a double attack.

    Spoiler:
Figure is Deladrin, Female Assassin from Reaper Bones.

    # 4.  ELLEN STONE
It was time for the Lawmen faction to have a Lady added to their ranks.  And when Ellen Stone calls upon her fellow marshalls, deputies, and peacemakers, they rally behind her with incredible results.
Ellen’s inspiration calls the Lawmen together to bring justice to the battlefield.  She coordinates the cowboys’ attacks and movement with insightful tactics learned from her years of tutelage under her father and grandfather who were great commanders of the early US army.
As a master of all weapons, when Ellen’s comrades are wounded or fall in the heat of the battle, she can take up their arms and continue the fight.

    Spoiler:
Figure is Ellen Stone from Reaper Bones.

Ran some play-tests with the new Lawmen, and they were fun : )

    DEVLIN SKYHAWK
Devlin is really fun, especially with Chronomancer's Insight.  In one match he pulled off a normal attack of 8 (base 3 + 1 for height + 1 for a treasure + 3 for Insight letting Devlin find the OM 3).  That shot took out Warden 816 in one shot.

Chronomancer's Insight is nice though ... since you can use it against one army card to see what OM's are placed and then make an attack elsewhere.

The Mechana Disruptor did see good use against low-defense soulborgs like the Zettian Infantry (or would be good against Deathreavers or Blasts/Glads).  The Special Attack is not going to be great against the Deathwalker heroes or the Q-series but for those targets - Devlin hopes to use Insight to get bonus attacks.

    ELLEN STONE
As designed, Ellen is perfect for getting 2 Lawmen heroes to take full turns.  Besides that bonding power, the "Brothers in Arms" was incredibly useful.  Being able to re-roll one attack die was amazing.  For melee armies, they tend to rush toward Ellen since she has all of the OM's.  Then when she's engaged, the other 2 "Cowboys" that she activates are getting one die re-rolls for the targets engaging her.  This helps Guilty since he gets double-attack and I also wrote it so that Shotgun Special or even Deadeye Dan's 1-die special can get one die re-roll.  It is a nice addition especially with the Risk/Reward of keeping Ellen in harm's way.

Only in one game did Ellen get to use The Legend Continues.  She took over for a fallen James Murphy though I didn't really get to use his powers.

Ellen could be pretty broken if Guilty falls first .. then she would have Double Attack (Range 6, Attack 4).  She'd be super awesome with both Murphy and Guilty.

On behalf of Derek and Jacob, thank you!

These are very nice minis! I'm sure we will have fun playing with them. Great job on the stats and powers.

Yes, thank you Santa Kai. We have had fun with King of Tokyo as well. A real neat game although Nolan is going down next time we play!

I enjoyed the few games we got in. My super-bunny lost every time, but I was close.

Kai - this was a great gift for the younger crowd. Well done.

    BUMP

Kai, did you want to submit these 4 figures for possible inclusion to our NWHC? Or are they finished figures that you created on your own?

I have to confess - I haven't played with them yet or scrutinized the stats/powers.

Just doing some bookkeeping for our site.

I never really play-tested the figures .. just whipped them up for some fun creations. I would love to develop them more - as I think they are great figures and a start on some nice customs. I do like the Cowboys/Lawmen that I worked on. Ellen Stone is cool, but need some balancing.

I think Derek has one set and Nomad - I think you have my set of them.

Yes - I have your set, Kai. They are staring down at me from the shelves - jealous and menacing that I haven't played with them yet.

I think that Xavier Lawson (Jandar) and Devlin Skyhawk (Vydar) are pretty much ready for play-testing and adoption by NWHC. Xavier is powerful with Knights of Weston though and might need a bump to 140.

I had some comments from Scytale that Delandria's "Displacer Cloak" didn't really work the way that I wrote it. Her "Haste" power is pretty solid though.

Ellen Stone is probably the most "broken" of the characters, and I had comments that "Brothers in Arms" allowing figures to re-roll Special Attack dice was too powerful. I did run several "All Lawmen" play-tests of my own with her (and Devlin) and she was powerful but not broken in my opinion. The Cowboys are fairly weak as it is, so if she elevates them to a more competitive level - I'm cool with that.

We could certainly run them in a fun game/play-test to see what you all think.

If we are going to include these I have a couple of Cowboys I would like to consider with these. Also, we would need to split these into individual threads so we can consider them separately.
