    W3 Konrad Von Bramgur- released

Post  Derek S on Tue Oct 01, 2013 12:41 am

    KONRAD VON BRAMGUR

NWHC WAVE 3- ASCENT OF THE GOBLINS- HEROES OF BASTION RIDGE

    Figure: D&D, Unhallowed, Inquisitor

    General: Aquilla
    Planet: Feylund

    Species: Hybrid
    Unique Hero
    Class: Cleric
    Personality: Devout
    Medium 5

    Life:6
    Move: 6
    Range: 1
    Attack: 4
    Defense: 3
    115 points

    FLAME OF DEVOTION 15
When any Hybrid figure you control within 6 spaces of Konrad Von Bramgur receives enough wounds to be destroyed, roll the 20-sided die before removing that figure. If you roll a 15 or higher, ignore any wounds that figure just received. Flame of Devotion 15 does not affect Konrad Von Bramgur.

    ACCUSATION OF EVIL
Konrad Von Bramgur starts the game with 3 black Accusation of Evil Markers on his Army Card. After moving and before attacking, you may place one Accusation of Evil Marker on an adjacent figure. For the duration of the game, all Fearless figures you control add 1 die to their normal attack when attacking a figure with an Accusation of Evil Marker on their Army Card.

    bio-
Even the Kresnik have not read all of the secret books, nor encountered all of the evils that Konrad Von Bramgur has. Teetering on the fringes of complete blamelessness and full corruption, Konrad is truly tested. Through his accomplished knowledge of the books and his battles with the dark forces, Konrad has gained the ability to detect the origins of Evil itself, and those that are not afraid can become empowered to overcome Evil. With this sanctification, Konrad can call to the flames of righteousness, and if the heart of the slain is still pious enough, the slain can defeat death itself.

I like this one better. It could play sort of like Lyncanthropy markers ... maybe you need to inflict a wound with the Hero in order to place the Mark.

    MARK OF EVIL
Start the game with 3 Mark of Evil markers on Konrad Von Bramgur's card. After moving and before attacking, you may place a Mark of Evil marker on an adjacent figure. For as long as Konrad Von Bramgur remains on the battlefield, when attacking a figure with a Mark of Evil on their card, all fearless hunters you control add 1 to their attack value.

Should KONRAD have Move 6 to keep up with the Shadow Slayer squad?

I think that Defy Death will be hard to use without Bonding, so maybe a range of 6 on that "aura."

I agree that this is the better choice.  If he had to inflict a wound then it would only work against heroes, which is different than the original intention.  I could go either way here but kind of liked marking commons as evil.  We can discuss the pro's & con's of either way.  I also wonder if the marker should stay on even after Konrad is destroyed.

Yeah he should probably have a move 6 to match the Slayers.

Certainly willing to go with 6 on the defy death- I think the range is easily something we can toy with as he progresses.  Seeing as how this power is basically Defy Death with a range I chose the name accordingly.  Do you think we should look at alternate name for the power.

OP updated with move to 6 and range of 6 on defy death.

I really like what you have for this guy so far. I racked my brain for other ideas or things to critique . . . but came up with nothing.

Yes - we can work on the wording and adjust things as go through play testing.

    My two cents:

Accusing sounds great for the personality.

How about "Cleric" for the class? Hmm, a little bonding action for the Fusiliers? Just thinking, he kind of seems clerical.

Drat, I was hoping we could brainstorm some improvements for this guy.  OP will reflect the accussing and cleric thoughts.

Thinking about giving Konrad 6 life to represent his mojo against the righteous dying. Any thoughts here?

Life of 6 is a good place to start as we move into play testing. I really like the design, synergies, and potential of this guy.

OK - I have spent a good hour and a half giving this guy some serious thought. I have altered a few numbers and reworded a few things as a suggestion for starters. Let me know if you agree/disagree. And please check my wording.

For the special powers: new name of Flame of Devotion fits the sculpt and the wording follows Acolarh's Home Tree Aura power and benefits all Hybrids (Van Nessing, Shadow Slayers, and those changed by a Werewolf Lord). I am suggesting a name change to Accusation of Evil for the second power and the wording to follow the Werewolf Lord - yes, the markers would stay on the figure even if Konrad dies - they are still accused whether Konrad is alive or not.

Would it be possible to change the OP to to format below? It will be easier to the copy and paste to HS and in making the card down the line.

I vote we go to play testing pending input, questions, and the go-ahead.

Instead of "Accusing" for personality, how about "Righteous" or "Devout."

    Accusing fits.

Righteous fits - but no other figures have this personality.

Devout fits - same as Van Nessing. The only benefits would be from Count Raymond's move +1, which is good; Bishop Thaddeus's Divine Grimoire which won't matter too much, and Baron Sebastion's Forced March . . . to the best of my knowledge.

My vote would be Devout as the personality. Nice input, Kai. And yes, with the Fearless only clause for Accusation of Evil, a few more units are brought into play such as the Axegrinders, Capt. John Varan, Earth Elemental, Eltahale, Frost Giant, and Moltenclaw.

With the move to Devout, I would bump his points just a bit. This dude is going to be sweet! We can always back off a stat or two to lower the points.

    Redoing my suggestion:

125-points seems a little high ... that's more than Kaemon Awa, but I guess Konrad is an awesome backup for Shadow Slayers and Dwarves.

    Army Builds:

    Shadow Slayers x3 ... 360
    Konrad (120) ... 480

    Axegrinders x3 ... 210
    Forgehammer ... 330
    Konrad (120) ... 450

I think some play-testing with Shadow Slayers and Axegrinders is in order to finalize points but he really seems cool.

You are probably right that 125 is too high.

We have gotten in 4-5 play tests with Konrad. He can be really good if he can dish out all of his Marks of Evil before falling (depending on the match-up). Or, you can play him back to defy death for the Slayers. Cool and strategic figure.

After the play tests, I would suggest dropping his points to 110, maybe 105.

I still need to get the figure, or take some pics of Derek's, so that I can start working on the card.

Can we include a W3 at the beginning of the thread title to make it easy to identify?

The Accusation of Evil is very cool, and it makes the Shadow Slayers more powerful. I do think he's a little over-priced, so I could see dropping him to 90 points and reducing Flame of Devotion to Range 4 and Life to 5.

    Army Builds:
    Konrad ... 90
    Shadow Slayers x3 ... 450
    = 450

That leaves a little room for 50 points of filler for a 500 point game, or a 4th squad and Guilty for a 600 point game.

Dropped his flame of devotion to 4 spaces and points to 105. Would and will consider dropping his life to 5. Other than bonding, Konrad I think, is better than Parmenio who comes in at 90 pts. Konrad can save a Werewolf Lord, anyone with a green marker on them, the Shadow Slayers and Van Nessing at a range which is considerably better than Parmenio and the Sacred Band. Plus the additional attack for fearless figures. I would be hard pressed to drop him below 100 even if he dropped to 5 life (same as Parmenio). I haven't run a test with him in what seems like forever so I am still a bit unsure though as to where he should end up. Damon, we will put in an order as soon as Lazymans pays.

Hmm . . . My vote would be to keep his range at 6 for the flame of devotion power and keep his life at 6. I think a simple a drop to either 105 or 110 points is all that is necessary instead of 120 points.
