Native to the labyrinth of dark caves in the base of the Nullondia Mountains, the Minotaurs of Nullondia have a heightened scent of smell and a strong desire to create chaos amongst their enemies. Often they will catch their enemies unprepared as they rush into battle, crushing their foes with little or no casualties of their own.

W1 Minotaurs of Nullondia-Released Empty Brainstorming Phase

I like our ideal that we discussed of making the cheap ones commons or a common squad (repaints, slice and glue, etc) and making the more expensive ones heroes.

    What General are you thinking?

I've seen them on both good and bad sides in literature, maybe we should do a search . . . done, most reports them as being monsters. I'm thinking Valkril or Utgar.

We could definately do an alternate card that would utilize the figures I've got (I hope). The one figure I still need a few more of could be a mod from the cheaper one pretty closely I think. The cost of 2 of these guys is high. Maybe I should get better about posting what figure(s) in the OP, I will.

Not sure about the general, maybe Utgar.

    Gore

If a Minotaur of Saaddule starts his movement unengaged, you may use Gore. Move a Minotaur of Saaddule in a straight line, if they end their movement engaged you may roll the 20 sided die. If you roll a 14 or higher the defending figure receives a wound. For each space moved you may add 1 to the die roll. If a Minotaur of Saaddule fails to inflict a wound with Gore, they may not attack this turn.

Very cool power! Love that you get to add more bonuses based on how far you've moved.

I want me some Minotaurs so bad!

    Pathfinder mini #30 = $3.53 at Strikezone (7 in stock), Harbinger #70 = $8.65 (2), Giants of Legend #54 = $10.54 (2).

    Pathfinder mini = $2.00 at Miniature Market (22 in stock), Harbinger #70 = $10.00 (4), Giants of Legend #54 = $8.50 (2).

    Pathfinder mini = $1.99 at Auggies (19 in stock), Harbinger #70 = $7.99 (3), Giants of Legend #54 = $7.49 (2).

I'm not willing to pay $20 plus for a squad (pushing $90-100 for what I'll need). I say we go with the pathfinder mini as the common squad (we can repaint or slice and glue) and use the others you have already bought for future unique heroes. What do you think?

    More to come regarding the stats/powers . . .

There are a bunch of other ones that are a little more distinct that we could use for heros (at least 10). Yes, I think we could use the same cheap figure with a little repaint/resculpt to make the squad- I am all for that. I wouldn't also mind having an alternative card with these guys on it. I would be happy to do the painting sculpting of the cheaper guy for you guys if so desired.

The other potential heros that I have can be seen in the Minotaur hero OP. Plus there are many more. So the 2 more spendy figures I thiink would be better to not use (or use as alternatives for the modded sculpts in the squad).

I would really like to use the Minotaurs you have already purchased as future heroes (I'll buy them from you). I am OK with an alternate card, but it would mean that we couldn't use those figures as future heroes. Does this make sense?

My thoughts on the stats/powers . . . please let me know what you think.

Planet-Earth (the bio can describe how they were summoned to Vahalla from Earth's mystical past).
    General-Utgar
Minotaurs of Saaddule Cretan Minotaurs (Crete was the island where the whole Minotaur cult existed 4000 years ago)
    Minotaurs

    Common Squad
    Beasts
Cunning Ferocious (Seems more fitting for a Minotaur)
Large/Med Medium ? (I'll have a better idea after I look at the sculpt)
    Life 1
    Move 5
    Range 1
    Attack 4
Defense 3/4 (I would go with 4, they seem pretty tough)
Points 90 (could be a 100 point squad - they seem as good or better than Granites, Quasatch, etc., but play-testing will determine).

Here are my early suggestions (rewordings) for the powers . . .

    GORE (this is awesome!)
If a Cretan Minotaur starts its movement unengaged, you may use Gore. When using Gore, move the Cretan Minotaur in a straight line. If it ends its movement engaged you may roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 14 or higher the defending figure receives 1 wound. For each space moved you may add 1 to the 20-sided die roll.  If a Cretan Minotaur does not inflict a wound with Gore, it may not attack this turn.

    SCENT OF PREY (nice addition)
A Cretan Minotaur may move 1 additional space if it ends it's movement engaged.

MINOTAUR BONDING (I see a few more minotaur heroes in the future)
Before taking a turn with the Cretan Minotaurs, you may first take a turn with any Minotaur Hero you control.

Let's use the cheaper figure for the card (2 modded which I would be happy to do). I would also like an alternate card (like Baron Sebastian) for the more expensive figures I already purchased. If this doesn't work, let me know and I'll remove the Minotaurs from brainstorming.

I'm going to hunt around for other minotaurs that might work for squad figures. Let's proceed with the design of the squad based on the figures you purchased for the squad. The final selection of what figures I use can be determined later. It might just be that I mod that one figure but I'm not sure yet.

I think that concepts here are very cool, but it does look like the actual figures are pretty expensive for a common squad (probably in the range of Axe-Grinders or Gladiatrons).

If we can find alternative sculpts or do some painting for the lower cost figs, I'd be down for it.

This Reaper Legendary Encounters one is pretty cool, and around $6. I think this was going to be one of the Unique Heroes though, right?

I found a few more on a quick search, but we're still talking about $25/squad.

    Here's another "Young Minotaur" - $5 Minotaur:

    Savage Minotaur $8/each:

    Minotaur Mangler: $6/each:

    ==

Because of the economincs - what do you think about making them a Unique Squad, and like the Incendiborgs they have basically 2 life instead of one per figure?

We could make them an unique squad. The idea has some merit. We have already crossed the line of using the same characters for a squad with the Bloodhunter Harpies though, so I would rather keep them a common squad using the one cheaper figure. Perhaps the other 2 figures could be used as part of an unique squad. Yes the reaper one is going to be a hero. The savage minotaur and minotaur mangler are also pictured in the minotaur hero post. They both are very different looking than the other 3 with more of a hero look to them, the mangler is quite a bit smaller. The young minotaur I have not seen in person so I cant really speak on it.

My recommendation is that we continue to come up with stats and if we need figures to playtest ~ we can use the Wolfen (since they are also large).

AvengersRule is an eBay seller that I've bought tons of stuff through.  They have lots of the basic (inexpensive) Minotaur figure, qty. 10+

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pathfinder-Battles-Heroes-Monsters-30-40-Minotaur-/290669390345?pt=Games_US&hash=item43ad3eea09

Same seller has "Minotaur Shaman" for about $4, qty. 10+.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/D-D-Dangerous-Delves-30-40-Minotaur-Battle-Shaman-Rare-/290664021987?pt=Games_US&hash=item43acecffe3

    Spoiler:

If we use these 2 figures for the squad, we can have more of the more expensive ones to round it out - so maybe two $4 figures and one $8 figure = $20/squad.

We need about 2-3 squads for Battleground and 2-3 squads for here in Seattle, so that's not too bad.  I don't need a full set for me or anything, since I've been playing at the House of Nomad.

Update: I'm going to buy a Minotaur Shaman to see how big it is : )

We could also modify that Minotaur with a different weapon .. like find a two-handed sword or something to tell them apart.

Pathfinder did that with their Frost Giant (it came with both a sword and an axe "hand")

I really like the look of the Pathfinder minotaur, in comparison. I think I'm going to run all Pathfinders for my squads.

For the card, let's go with the 3-minis Derek is using for the squads and we can do alternates if needed.

My package of mini-minotaurs arrived today. Derek and Kai, how many PF minotaurs do you need?

We could. One of the things I liked about the chosen minotaur(s) was that they all had the same weapon with subtle differences. If we did find substitute weapons I would like them to be the same double sided axe they all have, keeps them having a squad feel. I will see if I can round up some cheap compliments.

Now that I have the figures and have had a chance to study them closely, I'm thinking I'm not going to alter them. The most I could do with out significant effort/damage is to slide or twist an axe or horn.

I might do slightly different dry brush paint jobs, but they are pretty solid and cool squadies as is.

I'm going to go with defense of 4 and the Minotaur bonding option at 90 points. I will run them with out a Minotaur hero -this will give us an idea where they are at on their own.
